Why I Chose “Stewarding Your Legacy” as My Email Signoff
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Native American tribes, guiding them through some of their most complex financial challenges and helping them secure a future that honors their heritage while embracing new opportunities. My role has always been more than just offering financial advice – it’s about being a caretaker, a custodian of the legacies that these Sovereign Nations have built over generations, since time immemorial.
As I evolved in my work and expanded my services, I realized that my email signoff needed to reflect the deeper purpose behind what I do. I wanted something that would resonate not just with my clients, but with everyone I connect with – a message that would remind them of the importance of legacy and the role we each play in preserving and enhancing it.
The Power of Legacy
Legacy is a word that carries profound meaning, especially in the context of the work I do. For Native American communities, legacy is not just about financial wealth; it’s about heritage, values, place, traditions, and the stories passed down through generations. My work has always been centered around ensuring that these legacies are not only preserved but are also strengthened and adapted to meet the challenges of today’s world.
When I think about the term “stewarding,” it evokes a sense of responsibility, care, and active engagement. Stewardship is about taking what has been entrusted to us – whether it’s financial resources, knowledge, or values – and ensuring that it continues to grow and serve future generations. This concept perfectly aligns with my mission at Native Advisory: to guide and support the Tribes and entities I work with in managing their resources in a way that honors their past while building a strong foundation for the future.
Why “Stewarding Your Legacy”?
I chose “Stewarding Your Legacy” as my email signoff because it encapsulates the essence of what I do. It’s a reminder that every decision we make today impacts the legacy we leave behind. Whether I’m advising on complex financial strategies, helping to secure grants, or facilitating partnerships, my ultimate goal is to help ensure that the legacy of my clients is both strengthened and amplified – the proverbial “leaving the wood pile higher” than it was found.
This signoff also speaks to the trust that my clients place in me. They come to me with their most pressing financial challenges, confident that I will guide them towards solutions that not only solve immediate problems but also contribute to the long-term sustainability and prosperity of their organizations. In many ways, I serve as a steward of their legacy, helping them navigate the complexities of the modern world while staying true to their core values and traditions.
Embracing Imperfection
While I strive to provide the best guidance possible, I acknowledge that I’m not perfect. However, I believe that imperfect experiences allow me to grow, learn, and better serve those that I work with. It’s through these moments of learning and growth that I am able to refine my approach and provide even more effective solutions for the challenges my clients face, committed to continuous improvement and always with a deep respect for the trust placed in me.
Committed to the Future
“Stewarding Your Legacy” is more than just a signoff – it’s a commitment. It’s a promise that I will continue to approach every challenge with the same level of care, dedication, and strategic foresight that has guided my work thus far. It’s a reflection of my belief that the work we do today is about more than just the present; it’s about laying the groundwork for a future where we continue to thrive as the world rapidly changes.
As I continue to expand my services and engage with new partners, this signoff will serve as a constant reminder of the responsibility I carry and the trust that has been placed in me. It’s a way of reinforcing the values that drive my work and the mission that I am so deeply committed to.
